YYO – Rocking Horse
Personal project, 2025
YYO is a minimal rocking horse designed as a birthday gift for my two-year-old. Its form is reduced to a half-oval silhouette with simple cutouts, allowing it to quietly blend into the visual language of everyday domestic life.
The idea emerged from a spontaneous moment at home, when a pile of coats became an imaginary horse. In response, YYO is made from repurposed parka and coat textiles—materials drawn directly from that playful context. The surface feels familiar, tactile, and imperfect, echoing the texture of life with a child.
The name “YYO” comes from her own word for horses, inspired by the song Old MacDonald Had a Farm—a personal detail that gently ties the object to its user. More than a toy, YYO is a design study in how play, materiality, and narrative can intersect in the everyday.
Dimensions: 700*350*200 mm.
